Statistical Methodology & U.S. Benchmark Definition
U.S. National Aggregate vs. 51-Jurisdiction Mean: The official EIA nationwide residential average price for June 2026 is 18.34¢/kWh, calculated from nationwide aggregate residential revenues divided by nationwide sales. In contrast, the simple unweighted mean of all 51 jurisdictions is 19.42¢/kWh, while the median jurisdiction is 16.32¢/kWh (Oregon).
Competition Rank Rule: Entities with identical average rates receive the same rank (standard 1224 competition ranking). If two jurisdictions record identical average prices, they share the same rank position, and subsequent ranks are skipped accordingly.
Tariff Exclusions: These values reflect statewide statistical effective price averages from the U.S. EIA retail-sales API v2.
